Visit Uvita

Uvita is a laid-back coastal town on Costa Rica’s southern Pacific coast, known for its dark sand beaches, lush rainforest, abundant wildlife, and easy access to unforgettable outdoor adventures. It’s the perfect destination for travelers looking to slow down while staying close to nature.

Explore Marino Ballena National Park

Marino Ballena National Park is the heart of Uvita and one of the area’s biggest highlights. The park protects marine life, coral reefs, and nesting areas for whales and turtles.

At low tide, visitors can walk out onto the famous Whale’s Tail, a natural sand formation where two beaches meet. It’s a great place for swimming, tide pooling, beach walks, and sunset views. Surf lessons are also available inside the park at Playa Chaman.

Go Whale Watching

Uvita is one of the best places in Costa Rica to see humpback whales. Whale watching tours depart directly from the area and often spot dolphins and sea turtles as well.

Whale seasons typically run: Mid December through mid March and Mid July through late September August and September are considered peak months.
